Space Au: Rachel and Monochrome

Annnnnnd this is it everybody this is the last piece of old (decent) art from my art blog that never was before uploaded to dA! Okay so basically if you were in the Danny Phantom fandom on tumblr for the past year or so you would have known about the Space AU, and of course I just had to force Rachel and Mono into it (and even make up a new alien species for Mono). Originally I had Rachel as a halpha (there's also some more info on Monochrome's species there along with an actual picture of Eleanor) mostly because she's a halfa in main canon, but since that didn't work that well with the main story (and in general didn't make any sense) I decided to make her into a regular old "human." I am also far too lazy to retype everything from the original description so I'm copy/pasting everything with some minor changes from here on out.

In the Space AU, Rachel is an extremely sheltered human from Terra II and daughter of a scientist (who still secretly works for the GIW and participates in their experiments using various alien DNA and such, including halpha for weapons in this universe but Rachel doesn’t know this and just think that he’s a regular old freelance scientist).

For most of her early life she was very sick, being in and out of hospitals, and pretty much almost died when she was around 8, but strangely enough after that close call she became better. Afterwards she was pretty much kept inside the house all the time along with being homeschooled, due to her father fearing that she is still in “fragile condition.” While she was growing up she’d read about space exploration, the other worlds and the corp, and made it her life’s mission to someday join the corp and be able to visit every planet in the galaxy (not to mention the pleasure of getting to beat up bad guys). So when she’s 15 (or so, maybe I could age her up if I have to), she somehow manages to run away from home and joins the corp as a field agent. And to make sure that nobody recognizes her (and also because she had always wanted to do it) she cuts her hair, dyes it a little bit, and for some extra measures, puts orange-coloured contacts on to hide her dark blue yes for the heck of it.

Then while she’s there she meets Eleanor Ripley, a semi-retired field agent turned diplomat who pretty much becomes a maternal figure for her. And because of Eleanor she got to meet Monochrome, an Encreos engineer. Monochrome had known Eleanor since both her and he were trainees, and they were even part of the same team along with a guy named Felix and a girl named Molly (the latter of which Rachel deeply reminds Eleanor of). He’s good at designing various things like defenses for ships and so forth and likes to draw in his spare time. He also tends to wear a gas mask on duty and most of the time people either don’t know if it’s because the wet, dense atmosphere on Encreis is vastly different from the atmosphere anywhere else or because he just likes wearing it.

A little bit after Rachel became acquainted with Eleanor she had her meet Monochome and asked him (more like passive-agressively threaten) to keep an eye out on her and make sure that nothing bad happens to her while she’s a corp agent. Thus she ends up hanging out with him a lot and bothering him on the job. In general Rachel tends to hang around and bother all-the-homo-2’s Ronny, (that is if he’s in the Space Corp or she just goes to his home planet and bothers him there when she’s off-duty or something), ghostfiish’s Megan (cause I could honestly see them being good friends?), and phantomrose96’s Ryan Finn (because let’s be honest he’d probably give her tips on dyeing hair and such and they’d probably blab together about the different alien worlds out there). (and this is only if those OCs’ creators are perfectly fine with my excitable weirdo!)  I kind of was thinking that Rachel would try and hide her gender too, but honestly the medical scanners would probably find out in like 5 seconds. But that doesn’t stop people from sometimes accidentally calling her a boy.

Now I think I should probably talk about what Encreos are and that they are a species from the planet Encreis that has grey skin that differs in shades with six eyes, a pair of main eyes and two pairs of periphery eyes that have black scleras with yellow pupils that sometimes leak out an inky substance when they feel very emotional (ex: super angry or super happy, embarrassed, scared, etc.). Essentially they physically like the bastard children of squids, spiders and Drows (dark elves). They will also sometimes leak the ink substance from their mouth, fingertips, and nose as well and have a variety of birthmarks on their face and long, spindly hands that glow (along with some darker non-glowy ones). One of the special abilities of the Encreos is their ability to send out a psychic wave that can mess with the senses of their enemies, or if they touch them they can straight up either paralyze them or knock them out. This is due to this “sucker” or gland in the palm of their hands They also have a decent camouflage ability and are really limber and flexible. Their “ink-like” hair mostly comes in black but sometimes it can be lighter greys and even white but that mostly depends on the geographic origin. (honestly though I’ve been thinking about them also having different coloured eyes and grey skin with different colour tints due to geographic origin and such.) It’s not illustrated here but they also have really sharp teeth and they tend to live on average about maybe a 150-200 earth years. As mentioned before their atmosphere is very wet and dense, and they tend to live in large, twisting and winding cities and towns.

Encreos are also a very “visual” species (you would think so with 3 pairs of eyes) and have a pictographic writing system and an immense interest in the arts. I guess they’d also value “seeing is believing” and such as well. In terms of fashion, honestly they definitely tend to like cloaks and scarves, but I’m kind of torn on whether or not that they’d like “industrial”-looking clothing or “art noveau” inspired clothes. But I guess some of the clothing could look a bit like these?

Oh and I can’t forget but if you guys are more than welcome to turn either DP characters or OCs into Encreos! Not to mention, you’re also more than welcome to come up with headcanons and junk for the Encreos and their planet!!
